Rowby: Crochet Row Counter · Last updated September 22, 2026
Rowby is a row counter for crochet and knitting. It is built so that your projects stay on your iPhone. There are no accounts, no server that stores your projects, and we don't sell or share your data.
What stays on your device
- Your projects, counters, count history, reminders, yarn stash, photos and time worked.
- Patterns you add from Files, Photos or the document scanner. Rowby keeps them in its own storage on your iPhone and never uploads or shares them.
Microphone and speech
If you turn on voice counting, Rowby listens for the words “next”, “back” and “undo”. Speech is recognised on your device with Apple's on-device speech recognition. Audio is not recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
Camera
The camera is used only when you scan a paper pattern. Scans are saved on your iPhone.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store. Rowby receives only the status of your purchase, never your payment details. We may use a subscription-management service (Adapty) that receives an anonymous app-install identifier and purchase status to validate purchases; it does not receive your projects or patterns.
Analytics and tracking
Rowby does not track you across apps or websites and does not use advertising identifiers.
Deleting your data
Delete a project in the app, or delete Rowby from your iPhone to remove all of its data. You can export your projects as a JSON file from Settings at any time.
Children
Rowby is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
