Velvi

Privacy Policy · Last updated October 11, 2026
Short version: Velvi has no accounts and no advertising tracking. Your photos and edits stay on your device. Face features are detected on your iPhone only, used in memory to apply the retouch you chose, and never stored or sent anywhere. The only time a photo leaves your device is when you start an AI effect: that single photo is sent to a processing service, used to produce the result, and deleted right after.

1. Information we collect

We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, location or contacts. There is no sign-in and no profile. What the app touches is described section by section below: your photos (2), face data (3), AI effects (4), the AI assistant (5), the camera (6) and subscriptions (7).

2. Your photos

Photos you open are copied into the app's own storage so your work survives changes in your photo library. Everything you do — crops, colour, retouch, brush strokes, text — is stored on your device only, as a description of the edits rather than as a flattened image. Deleting a project in the app, or deleting the app, removes all of it.

Velvi asks for photo library access only when you open a photo, and for add-only access when you save a result. It never scans your library in the background.

3. Face data

What face data the app uses. When you open a face tool (skin smoothing, skin tone, glow, face slimming, eye, nose and lip adjustments, makeup, hair colour) Velvi uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to find the face in the photo you are editing: the face outline and the positions of facial features such as the eyes, eyebrows, nose and lips. Background tools use Vision in the same way to separate the person from the background. These positions are only used to place the effect in the right spot of the photo.

What it is not. Velvi does not recognise or identify people, does not create face templates, face prints or any biometric identifier, does not compare faces, and does not use the TrueDepth camera, Face ID or ARKit face tracking.

Where it is processed and stored. Face detection runs entirely on your iPhone. The detected face positions exist only in the device's memory while the photo is being edited. They are not written to storage, not included in your saved projects (projects keep only your slider values and brush strokes), not sent to our servers or to anyone else, and not used for analytics, advertising or training.

Retention and deletion. Face data is discarded as soon as the edit is rendered or you leave the photo, and is recomputed the next time you open a face tool. It is never retained after that, so there is nothing to delete. Your photos and edits themselves stay on your device until you delete the project or the app.

Sharing. Face data is not shared with any third party. The single exception concerning your photo (not face data) is an AI effect you start yourself — see section 4.

4. AI effects

Effects marked as AI are not computed on your phone. When you start one, the selected photo — which may show a face — is uploaded over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our processing server and passed to our image-processing provider, fal.ai (Features and Labels, Inc.), which transforms it and returns the result to your device. No face data, measurements or identifiers are derived from it or sent with it.

The photo is used for that one request only. Our server does not store it. We instruct the provider not to keep the request in its history and to delete the resulting file automatically within 5 minutes; the provider does not use customer data to train its models. The photo is never sold or used for any other purpose. If you never start an AI effect, no photo ever leaves your device.

5. AI assistant

The assistant understands a request written in plain words and opens the matching tool. Only the text you type is sent to our service, together with the language of your device — never your photos or face data. The request is used to answer it and is not stored afterwards. If you never open the assistant, nothing is sent.

6. Camera

The in-app camera is used only when you open it, to take a photo you then edit. Nothing is recorded or transmitted while the camera preview is on screen.

7. Subscriptions

Payments are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card details.

To show current prices and offers and to check whether your subscription is active, Velvi uses Adapty (Adapty Tech Inc.). Adapty receives a random identifier generated for this installation (not your Apple ID and not the advertising identifier), your App Store purchase history for Velvi, and basic app events such as when the subscription screen is shown. It is not linked to your name or email, not sold, and not used to track you across other apps or websites. Photos and face data are never sent to Adapty.

8. Children

Velvi is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
